To make an informed decision, you have to consider a lot of variables, such as cost of attendance, financial aid, student/teacher ratio, academics, student life, and more.   1. Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL

Florida Atlantic University opened in 1964. Established to create a new breed of higher education, the institution swiftly expanded into new areas. Today, FAU has over 170-degree programs and is the most diverse institution in the Florida State University System. In FAU’s bachelor of public safety administration degree program, learners can concentrate in either law enforcement or disaster management. Learners in the program must complete 60 major credit hours; classes can be taken online or on-campus. Coursework includes the study of  administrative process and ethics, crime analysis, and multiagency incident command. Learners who concentrate in disaster management can take a government internship for credit.

  1. Florida State University, Panama City, FL

Florida State University offers a public safety administration degree program on its Panama City campus, which is home to pioneering thinkers who support North Florida’s local business and economic activities. FSU’s public safety and security degree trains learners in the field of law enforcement to develop the skills that make society safer. To make educational opportunities more accessible, the university offers financial aid to as many students as possible; almost 75 percent of FSU Panama City learners obtain financial aid, with a total of $200,000 in scholarships conferred yearly.

  1. Keiser University, Fort Lauderdale, FL

Keiser accommodates adult learners seeking a career-focused education, with over 100 distinct degree programs to select from. In addition to offering programs across its many campuses, Keiser also has partnerships abroad in locations such as Nicaragua and China. A BS in public safety administration provides learners with holistic coursework in public policy issue management. Coursework for this degree requires 120 credit hours; classes are available on several campuses. Classes include conflict resolution, business ethics, and urban government social policy. Graduates of this degree program typically pursue careers in fire departments, emergency medical services, or other government bureaus.

Learners at Cleveland State University have access to more than 250 partnerships with local businesses and government agencies. Currently, more than 17,000 learners are enrolled across the university’s eight colleges. CSU’s BA in public safety management focuses on fire and emergency services administration and management. Internships and small seminar research groups are available to give learners broad exposure to real-world experiences. Coursework includes the study of principles of public relations and personnel management for fire and emergency services. Learners who have substantial prior learning experience can apply for the Assessment and Accrediting Body of Prior Learning Experience degree program to get ahead.

Grand Canyon University is a privately run institution established more than 65 years ago by the Southern Baptist Church to create a university that integrated faith and academia. GCU continues its faith tradition of allowing learners to learn more about their higher purpose while studying an academic area about which they are passionate. Learners who graduate from GCU’s BS in public safety and emergency management can take on the various fields in public safety. This degree program can be completed in as little as 48 months; classes can be completed online or on-campus. Various scholarships available. Because this degree program is offered via the Colangelo College of Business, learners get to know the business side of the field along with direct sector knowledge.
