25 Books to Teach Students About the Rainforest

Books about the rainforest are frequently among the first to be taken from my classroom shelves. Students enjoy studying rainforests and the creatures that inhabit there. Teaching about them is enjoyable as well. One of the oldest ecosystems still in existence is the rainforest. And although though they only occupy 6% of the planet’s area, they are home to more than 50% of the world’s plant and animal species!

Here are 25 books about the rainforest to assist you in introducing your learners to the stunning diversity and fascinating beauty of this amazing part of the planet.

  1. Secrets of the Rainforest by Carron Brown 

This tale provides a fantastic introduction to the rainforest’s ecosystem. It’s a great way to begin a unit with vibrant, vivid artwork and “see-through” pages.

  1. Yara’s Tamari Tree by Yossi Lapid

Yara adores her lovely home in the rainforest. Her mother discovers a remedy from the tawari tree when she falls unwell. The lesson of this tale is that people are just as dependent on the jungle as it is on them.
