3 Ways to Plan for Diverse Learners: What Teachers Do

Today, educators are faced with the challenge of accommodating for diverse learners in their classrooms. This is especially true for students who are new to the school district or to the teaching profession.

To provide a plan for accommodating these learners, educators can use three methods:

1. Decide what type of learner you are expecting.

This will help you to determine the level of difficulty you will need to work with. If you are expecting a very young child or an older student who is not up to speed on the school district’s curriculum, you may need to be more specific.

2. Determine what type of resources you will need.

This will include books, notes, flashcards, and other resources that will help you with the teaching of the curriculum. Tailor to your teaching style the types of resources to use.

3. Make a plan.

Once you have determined what type of learner you are expecting, make a plan for how you will teach the curriculum. This will include the type of resources you will need, the level of difficulty you will need to deal with, and the amount of time you will need for the teaching of the curriculum.
