A Quick Activity to Assess Student Knowledge

In this approach, you will be able to visually assess the amount of knowledge the learners have about a particular topic or use it as a review of a topic to see how much they have learned.

In this approach, you will need cups of different colors: red, yellow, and green. Red is meant for “no knowledge,” yellow is meant for a “moderate amount of knowledge,” and green is meant for “knowledge of the topic.”

You will pose a question to the class, and the class will stack the cups in the order of how much they know about the topic. The top color of the cups is the color that is the indicator to you.

Ask several questions that you need to help you assess the learner’s knowledge.

You are giving a chance for the learner to self assess what they know and demonstrate that to you.
