The school has strong ties to the Catholic Church, and many of its policies and practices are derived from the teachings of that religion. With an acceptance rate of 83%, Ave Maria University is somewhat selective–less than half of the students who apply are admitted each year. In addition to applying, applicants must send in test scores from either the SAT or ACT.
