Developing Your Leadership Pipeline

Building a leadership pipeline enables you to groom new leaders, identify and develop talent, and promote from within. Here are five steps you can take to develop your leadership pipeline:

1. Identify your organizational strengths.

What are your company’s core values and how do they impact how you operate? What specific talents do your employees possess? Once you know your strengths, you can develop a leadership strategy that capitalize on them.

2. Assess your current leadership structure.

Who are your top leaders and how do they interact with the rest of the organization? Are there any gaps in the leadership pipeline? How can you fill those gaps?

3. Create a leadership development program.

What type of training and development will your new leaders need? What are the steps they will need to take to reach the next level?

4. Identify and recruit talented leaders.

How do you identify and recruit the best leaders? What are their key skills and qualities? How do you develop a leadership pipeline that includes these leaders?

5. Promote from within.

Who are your current leaders and how can they be promoted? What are the steps they need to take to reach the next level? How can you help them stay on track?
