Early Signs of Autism by 16 Months

By 16 months old, many babies may show early signs of autism. Here are four of the most common:

1. Difficult to make friends.

Babies with autism may find it difficult to make friends. They may not be able to share their interests or be very social.

2. Lack of social skills.

Babies with autism may have difficulty interacting with others. They may not be able to share their toys or laugh at jokes.

3. Restricted and repetitive behaviors.

Some babies with autism may have repetitive behaviors, such as rocking back and forth or sucking their thumb.

4. Difficulty communicating.

Many babies with autism may have difficulty communicating. They may not be able to tell you what they want, or they may babble or use unusual words.
