Extrinsic Motivation: How Many Different Types Are There?

Extrinsic motivation, on the other hand, refers to the motivation that comes from outside oneself. There are many different types of extrinsic motivation, and each has its own benefits and drawbacks.

One type of extrinsic motivation is financial. Extrinsic rewards can help individuals achieve their goals more easily as they provide a tangible incentive to work hard. However, extrinsic rewards can also have negative impacts on motivation as they can become addictive.

Some other types of extrinsic motivation include social motivation and performance-based motivation. Social motivation comes from the desire to conform to social norms or achieve social recognition. Performance-based motivation, on the other hand, refers to the motivation to achieve a certain goal in a specific timeframe.
