This group considers ways to develop literacy in both the native and second languages in an elementary and middle school setting. We formulate strategies to help students achieve biliteracy in dual-language schools and programs. There will also be a discussion of methods to develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, using content to build language and literacy skills using children’s and young adult literature and assessing students’ literacy development in both languages.
