The group will investigate the theory, practice, and research in early literacy acquisition and discuss this in a range of contexts, including emergent literacy, word identification, comprehension, writing, invented spelling, and phonemic awareness. A key focus will be on teaching strategies helpful in childcare settings such as preschools, early intervention, and programs for students with developmental disabilities.
