This group will consider how the school culture, the culture of STEM subjects, and teachers’ and students’ cultures intersect and how to structure teaching to support them all. We will discuss the challenging balancing act for teachers between acknowledging mainstream culture and identifying, respecting, and utilizing students’ diverse backgrounds and identities to optimize learning.
