How To Become a Chiropractor

Chiropractors are healthcare professionals that specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. They also help restore the body’s structures by manipulation and adjustment of the spine. Chiropractic care is based on the principle that the body’s natural structure and function are maintained by the flow of energy in the body.

To become a chiropractor, you need to have either a bachelor’s degree in health sciences or a doctor of chiropractic degree. After completing an accredited chiropractic program, you will need to pass the National Chiropractic Association’s (NCA) chiropractic board examination. Chiropractic graduates can then begin practice by either opening their own chiropractic practice or joining an existing chiropractic practice.

Becoming a Chiropractor is a long and arduous process, but with the right attitude and preparation, it is definitely possible.

Here are five key steps to becoming a Chiropractor:

  1. Complete an accredited chiropractic college program.
  2. Complete a minimum of 2,000 hours of Chiropractic clinical experience.
  3. Pass the North American Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NABCE) certification exam.
  4. Register with the Texas Chiropractic Board.
  5. Complete a minimum of 200 hours of post-graduate continuing education (CE) every two years.
