Renewal of Teaching Certification
You will obtain a letter on renewal procedures when you obtain your teaching license. Renewal packets will be delivered by TSPC to your Oregon employing school district about 90 days before the expiration date of your license.
You have to complete 3 semester graduate credit hours in education to renewing your Initial I license. Suppose you wish to convert your Initial License to a Continuing License. In that case, you have to complete a master’s degree program, have 5 years of teaching experience, and complete one of the following options:
- A TSPC- sanctioned institution Continuing Teaching License program
- A doctoral degree in education
- National Board of Professional Teaching Standards licensure
- A TSPC-sanctioned school district program
- A TSPC-sanctioned professional assessment
To renew a license, follow the instructions in the letter you obtain with your license. You have to show evidence that you have been employed in an Oregon school, finished the Continuing PD Conditions, and then filed the Continuing PD Plan form. You have to complete 125 PD Units (PDUs) following the rules posted here.
Teaching Certification Reinstatement
A teaching license can be renewed as long as it is not more than 90 days beyond its expiration date. You have to re-apply for your educator’s license. Call TSPC at 503-378-3586 or [email protected] for more info.
