The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024 have been released, and Queen’s University is proud to announce its impressive performance in this year’s rankings. The Impact Rankings assess universities’ contributions to the United NationsSustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Queen’s has demonstrated its commitment to creating a positive impact on society and the environment.

This year, Queen’s University has risen to 14th place globally, up from 21st place in 2023. This significant improvement is a testament to the university’s dedication to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. The Impact Rankings evaluate universities’ performance across 17 SDGs, including climate action, good health and well-being, and quality education.

Queen’s University excelled in several areas, including SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, where it ranked 6th globally. The university’s research in sustainable energy solutions, such as solar power and energy storage, has contributed significantly to this achievement. Additionally, Queen’s ranked 10th globally in SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, recognizing its efforts to create more livable and sustainable urban environments.

The university’s strong performance in the Impact Rankings is a result of its strategic focus on interdisciplinary research, community engagement, and collaboration with industry partners. Queen’s has established several initiatives aimed at addressing the SDGs, including the Queen’s Sustainability Office, which coordinates sustainability efforts across the university, and the Queen’s Research Opportunities Fund, which supports research projects aligned with the SDGs.
