Indian River State College (IRSC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Louis “Lou” Caprino as the new Dean of Public Service Education. Caprino, a seasoned educator and public service professional, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, and is poised to lead the college’s public service education programs to new heights.
In his new position, Caprino will oversee IRSC’s public service education programs, including law enforcement, fire science, emergency medical services, and corrections. He will be responsible for developing and implementing curriculum, managing budgets, and fostering partnerships with local law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders.
Caprino comes to IRSC from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, where he served as a training coordinator and instructor. Prior to that, he spent 25 years with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, rising through the ranks to become a captain. Throughout his career, Caprino has demonstrated a commitment to public service and a passion for education, earning numerous awards and recognition for his work.
