Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College is a public research institution situated in Baton Rouge. Louisiana State University, which accepts almost three-quarters of applicants, has a slightly selective admissions process. Students whose SAT/ACT scores and GPA are within the institution’s requirements have a good chance of being admitted. Applicants must complete an online application and send test scores from either the SAT or ACT and high school transcripts. SAT Requirements and Scores

During the 2018-19 admissions phase, 12% of admitted students provided SAT scores. This admissions data reveals to us that most of LSU’s admitted students fall within the top 35% on the SAT. 50% of students admitted to LSU scored between 540 and 640 reading and writing section, while 25% scored below 540, and 25% scored over 640. 50% of admitted students scored between 530 and 650 on the math section, while 25% scored below 530, and 25% scored over 650. Applicants with a cumulative SAT score of 1290 or higher will have particularly competitive chances at LSU.

ACT Requirements and Scores

During the 2018-19 admissions phase, 88% of admitted students provided ACT scores. This admissions data reveals to us that most of LSU’s admitted students fall within the top 31% on the ACT. The median 50% of students admitted to LSU received a cumulative ACT score between 23 and 29, while 25% scored over 29, and 25% scored below 23.

GPA

In 2019, the mean high school GPA for Louisiana State University freshman was 3.43, and most admitted students had mean GPAs ranging from 3.0 to 4.0. Successful applicants have B grades primarily.
