In today’s world, it seems that anything and everything is judged on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best. In order to make sure that our classrooms are effective and efficient, we must start making classroom observations matter.
Observations have always been an important part of teaching, but we must start making them more important in order to identify problems and correct them. When we make observations, we are able to see what is working and what is not, and we can then make necessary changes.
There are a few things that we should keep in mind while making observations:
1. Make sure that you are not judging the student.
It is important to remember that we are not the students’ judges, and we should not be giving them grades based on our observations. We are there to help them, and our job is to provide constructive criticism.
2. Make sure that your observations are accurate.
It is important to be accurate when making observations, as we do not want to give students inaccurate information. If we make an observation that is not valid, the student will likely not take it to heart.
3. Be open to making changes.
If we are not open to making changes, our students will likely not be open to making changes either. We need to be willing to change our opinions in order to help our students grow.
Making classroom observations matter will help us to improve our classrooms, and we will be able to see the progress that our students are making.
