Bozeman, MT – Montana State University President Waded Cruzado has announced her intention to retire, effective June 2025. Cruzado, who has served as president since 2010, made the announcement in a letter to the MSU community, highlighting her deep commitment to the university and its future.
“It has been an immense privilege to serve as president of Montana State University,” Cruzado wrote. “I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of education and the incredible talent and dedication of our students, faculty, and staff. I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished together.”
Cruzado’s tenure has been marked by significant growth and achievement for MSU. Under her leadership, the university experienced record enrollment, expanded research initiatives, and saw a dramatic increase in its national ranking. She also played a crucial role in advocating for increased funding for higher education in the state.
“President Cruzado has been a visionary leader for Montana State University,” said Chair of the MSU Board of Regents, Randy Adams. “Her commitment to student success, faculty excellence, and research innovation has propelled MSU to new heights. We are deeply grateful for her service and wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
The MSU Board of Regents will begin the search for Cruzado’s successor in the coming months. Cruzado plans to continue her work with the university in a consulting role following her retirement.
