Scholarships for International Students


In 2019, the number of foreign students enrolled in American universities reached a record high; however, during the pandemic, this number fell. Financial difficulties may be experienced by foreign students who choose to study in the United States. According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, overseas students are not allowed to work or are only permitted to work for a restricted number of hours on campus or in a field connected to their studies because of work limitations on student visas. Is There Financial Assistance for International Students?


One method of paying for your education is via student loans.


The Fulbright and Hubert Humphrey Fellowships are two government financing options for international students. International students may also apply for several scholarships that certain colleges offer. Below is a list of general scholarships offered to undergraduate and graduate students. Finding scholarships may be done in a variety of ways.

Undergraduate Scholarships for International Students


Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship


Who Is Eligible?: Bangladesh, India, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar, and Mozambique are among the nations from which the Foundation accepts applications. Applicants from France, Portugal, the U.K., the United States, and Canada who are citizens of one of the nations above and are interested in studies connected to development and have no other means of funding their study are also accepted by the Foundation.

Fulbright Program for Foreign Students Scholarship


Who Is Eligible?: The Fulbright Scholarship’s requirements vary per nation; however they may include holding the citizenship you are applying from, enrolment in a bachelor’s degree program, and English language competency. Who Is Eligible?: This grant is open to international students enrolled full-time in a degree program funded by MPOWER.

MPOWER Monthly Scholarship Series


Who Is Eligible?: anybody who is now enrolled or accepted to study full-time abroad with a valid visa at an MPOWER-supported institution. There is a unique essay for the application each month.

Philanthropic Education Organization International Peace Scholarship


Who Is Eligible?: These scholarships are given to female students from other countries. Applicants must have a full year of coursework left, be enrolled for the whole academic year, and be in residence to be eligible for their first award. The United States and Canada’s permanent inhabitants are ineligible.

Global Undergraduate Exchange Program


Who Is Eligible?: Participants’ undergraduate students may submit applications. The student must be enrolled and in good standing in college.

Who Is Eligible?: All first-year overseas candidates to a participating institution or university, regardless of their area of study or major, are eligible. Students must express in their application how interested they are in fostering intercultural learning and interaction. Also needed are an essay and a video.

Study a Bachelor’s in the USA Scholarship


Who is Eligible?: The applicant must have applied to a university in the United States. Any language requirements for the student’s selected program of study must be met. They can live here now if they participate in a study abroad program.

The NextGen Scholarship


Who Is Eligible?: Residents of other countries or international students may apply. Candidates must have a GPA of at least 3.0.

American Concrete Institute Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship


Who Is Eligible?: International students may apply if they study in the United States or Canada. Completing a 10–12 week summer internship is a requirement for this program. Their research must be relevant to the concrete sector.

Graduate Scholarships for International Students


The American Association of University Women International Fellowship


Who Is Eligible?: Women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents but want to return to their native country to pursue a professional career are given funding for full-time graduate or postdoctoral studies under this program. There are just a few rewards available for studying abroad.

Who Is Eligible?: The program is open to graduate students studying communication science and disorders abroad.

Additional Financial Resources for International Students


The student must enter a picture or a film into the “Celebrating Your Favorite Holiday Scholarship Photo Contest” displaying their preferred holiday. They must post on Instagram, tag International Student Voice (@internationalstudentvoice), and follow the account. Depending on how many likes the picture gets, there will be 10 to 15 finalists.


For foreign students, this website provides information and a program navigator. Additionally, it warns overseas students of scammers that can prey on them.


International Scholarships: This website provides a directory of scholarships for students from abroad.


This $1,000–$2,000 grant is given by Population Media Center to the winner of the On Planet, Many People video contest. Candidates must produce a 60-second film describing the effects of global population growth. The cutoff date is July 15, 2023.


Antonia Scholarship for Tenacity: Applicants must submit a CV and an essay on their perseverance. In addition, the student must provide documentation of their college enrollment and a letter of recommendation. A $1,000 scholarship will be given.
