After graduating from UIUC in 1971, Khan began working at a small auto-parts manufacturing company called Flex-N-Gate. In 1978, Khan purchased Flex-N-Gate and turned it into a global automotive supplier with over 62 manufacturing plants worldwide. Today, Flex-N-Gate employs more than 24,000 people around the world and generates annual revenue of approximately $8 billion.
