Teaching Students About the Hindenburg Disaster

In the early hours of May 6, 1937, the pride of the German airship fleet, the Hindenburg, caught fire and exploded as it approached its mooring mast in Lakehurst, New Jersey. This event has gone down in history as one of the most tragic and shocking aviation disasters of all time.

Teaching students about the Hindenburg disaster is important as it is an opportunity for learners to understand how technology has developed over time, become aware of the risks associated with experimental aviation techniques, and also learn about the importance of air transport in the early 20th century.
