On World Autism Acceptance Day, we celebrate the progress made in regard to autism acceptance and hope to continue making strides in the future. When we think about autism, the first thing that comes to mind is often the barriers that autistic people face. These barriers can be physical, such as not being able to speak, or social, like not being able to make friends. However, there are also many positive aspects of being autistic. Many autistic people are creative and resourceful, and they are often able to see things in a new way that others don’t.
As educators, it is our job to help our students understand many different aspects of autism. We can do this by discussing the barriers that autistic people face and the positive aspects of being autistic. We can also discuss how autistic people have helped to shape the world we live in today. For example, autistic people have been responsible for some of the most innovative and ground-breaking ideas in the fields of engineering and computer science. We can also discuss how autism has helped to shape the way we view the world. For example, many people view autism as a unique form of intelligence that should be celebrated.
We can help our students to understand autism by discussing World Autism Acceptance Day. This day provides an opportunity to celebrate the progress that has been made in autism acceptance. As educators, it is our job to help our students understand the many different aspects of autism. World Autism Acceptance Day provides an opportunity to do just that.
