The University of North Carolina System has announced its prestigious Presidential Scholars for the 2024-25 academic year. This esteemed group of students has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and community service, earning them recognition as the best and brightest among their peers.
The Presidential Scholars program, established in 2002, is a highly competitive scholarship program that recognizes outstanding students from across the UNC System’s 17 institutions. This year’s cohort of scholars consists of 25 students, each selected for their remarkable academic accomplishments, commitment to community engagement, and potential for future leadership.
The scholars, representing a diverse range of academic disciplines and backgrounds, were chosen from a pool of over 1,000 applicants. A rigorous selection process, involving a review of academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and personal statements, identified these exceptional students.
As Presidential Scholars, these students will receive a four-year scholarship covering tuition, fees, and room and board, as well as a stipend for summer research or internship opportunities. Additionally, they will participate in a range of enrichment activities, including leadership development programs, networking events, and community service projects.

The 2024-25 Presidential Scholars will be recognized at a special ceremony in the fall, where they will be honored for their achievements and welcomed into the UNC System’s community of scholars. As they embark on their academic journey, they will be supported by the UNC System’s commitment to providing a world-class education and fostering a culture of excellence.
