Virginia Union University is a private Baptist HBCU situated on an 84-acre campus in Richmond, Virginia. The university dates back to 1865 when it was founded to provide educational opportunities for newly emancipated slaves. The institution has a large selection of undergraduate and graduate degree programs for students to select from. Students are backed by a 16 to 1 student/faculty ratio, and professors take a personalized approach to the teaching and learning process. Outside of the classroom, students will find plenty of opportunities to engage with the campus community via the university’s many clubs and organizations. For more serious athletes, the VUU Panthers play in the NCAA Division II Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA).
