WFU Reveals 2024 Character Education Grant Winners

Wake Forest University (WFU) has announced the winners of its 2024 Character Education Grant, a prestigious program that recognizes and supports innovative character education initiatives in schools and communities across the country. This year’s grant recipients were selected from a pool of over 200 applicants, and will receive funding to implement their projects, which aim to foster character development, social-emotional learning, and civic engagement among young people.

The 2024 Character Education Grant winners represent a diverse range of organizations, including public and private schools, non-profit organizations, and community groups. The winning projects were chosen for their creativity, feasibility, and potential impact on the lives of young people. Some of the winning projects include a character-based literacy program for elementary school students, a mentorship initiative that pairs high school students with community leaders, and a social-emotional learning curriculum for middle school students.

“We are thrilled to announce this year’s Character Education Grant winners,” said Dr. Michael Lamb, Executive Director of the WFU Character Project. “These projects demonstrate a deep understanding of the importance of character education in shaping the next generation of leaders and citizens. We are confident that they will have a lasting impact on the lives of young people and their communities.”

The WFU Character Education Grant program is part of the university’s broader commitment to character education and development. Since its inception in 2015, the program has awarded over $1 million in funding to support character education initiatives across the country. This year’s grant winners will join a community of over 50 organizations that have received funding through the program.

The 2024 Character Education Grant winners will be recognized at a special ceremony at WFU in April, where they will have the opportunity to share their projects and connect with other character education leaders and practitioners. Congratulations to this year’s winners, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact of their work in the years to come!
