Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have played a significant role in shaping the academic and career trajectory of African American students. In recent years, however, HBCU leadership has experienced frequent turnovers, leading to what many are calling the ‘HBCU Presidency Carousel.’

Although numerous factors contribute to this phenomenon, three crucial elements stand out – financial challenges, organizational culture, and governance issues.

1. Financial Challenges
