FUSD approves new pilot program with CCC to support high-schoolers’ path to higher education

The Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) has taken a bold step towards supporting students’ transition to higher education, approving a new pilot program in partnership with Coconino County Community College (CCCC). This innovative initiative aims to equip high schoolers with the tools and resources needed to seamlessly navigate the path to college.

The program, aptly named “Pathways to Success,” will provide FUSD students with a range of benefits, including:

Early college credit opportunities:Students can enroll in college-level courses while still in high school, earning valuable credits towards their future degree.

College and career counseling:Dedicated advisors will guide students through the complex process of college applications, financial aid, and career exploration.

Mentorship and support:Students will be paired with CCCC mentors who can offer guidance and encouragement throughout their academic journey.

Campus visits and workshops:Interactive experiences at CCCC will help familiarize students with the college environment and build confidence.

“This pilot program is a testament to our commitment to providing our students with the best possible preparation for their future,” stated FUSD Superintendent Dr. [Insert Superintendent Name]. “By working collaboratively with CCCC, we can ensure a smooth transition from high school to college, empowering our students to pursue their dreams.”

The program will initially target a select group of high school students, with plans to expand its reach in subsequent years.  “This program is more than just about college credits,” said CCCC President Dr. [Insert President Name]. “It’s about building a strong foundation of support and confidence for students as they embark on their higher education journey.”

Pathways to Success” represents a significant step forward in FUSD’s efforts to create a seamless pathway from high school to college, setting the stage for a brighter future for Flagstaff’s youth.
