Description
The group introduces educators to assessing student achievement on a large-scale international level. Some of the assessments considered are TIMSS, PIRLS, and PISA. The group will look first at the history of international assessments and what circumstances led to their emergence and diffusion. Next, we will consider the methodology and processes used in regional and global projects. Finally, we will perform a critical analysis of the various ways scholars, policymakers, and the media use data from international assessments.
