This group is an introduction to the topic of social-emotional learning as well as the cognitive workings that underpin it. The group will also investigate the research into effective teaching methods, instruments used to measure SEL, a study of existing programs, and SEL teaching components. Throughout, a key focus will be how to apply concepts to real-world examples of human behavior, which we may draw from sources such as the arts and educators’ personal experience.
