Florida’s Only Historically Black University Names Interim President

Tallahassee, FL – Bethune-Cookman University (BCU), Florida’s only historically Black university, has announced the appointment of Dr. Hiram Powell as Interim President. Powell, a veteran educator and administrator with over 30 years of experience, will assume the role effective immediately following the resignation of former President Dr. Vincent Price.

“Dr. Powell is a proven leader with a deep understanding of higher education and a strong commitment to BCU’s mission,” said Dr. E.K.  Bonner, chair of the BCU Board of Trustees. “We are confident that he will provide the stability and guidance necessary to navigate this transitional period.”

Powell holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama and has served in various leadership roles at BCU since 2013, most recently as Provost and Chief Academic Officer. Greenstein Announces PASSHE Departure
