Zimbabwe recently hosted a pilot workshop focused on bolstering quality assurance within higher education institutions across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. The workshop, organized by the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE), brought together key stakeholders from various SADC countries to discuss best practices and challenges in ensuring quality education standards.
The workshop highlighted the critical role of quality assurance in enhancing the credibility and competitiveness of higher education institutions within the region. Participants explored various aspects of quality assurance frameworks, including curriculum development, teaching and learning methodologies, assessment practices, and research output.
The workshop also provided a platform for sharing experiences and challenges faced by different SADC countries in implementing quality assurance measures. This open dialogue fostered collaboration and mutual learning, paving the way for potential regional solutions to shared challenges.
Discussions centered around the need for harmonization of quality assurance standards across SADC member states to ensure greater mobility and recognition of qualifications. Participants acknowledged the importance of aligning national quality assurance frameworks with regional and international standards.
