With the release of Windows 11, Microsoft introduced a revamped taskbar sporting a sleek, modern design. While many users have embraced this change, some may prefer to adjust the size of the taskbar according to their preferences. In this article, we will guide you on how to change the taskbar size in Windows 11.
. Open the Registry Editor
First, you’ll need to access the Registry Editor. Press `Win + R` keys simultaneously to open the Run dialog box and type `regedit`, then hit Enter.
2. Locate Taskbar Settings in Registry Editor
Once you have the Registry Editor open, navigate to the following directory:
`HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced`
3. Modify TaskbarSI Value
In the Advanced folder, search for an entry named `TaskbarSI`. If it doesn’t exist, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value and name it `TaskbarSI`.
To modify its value, right-click on `TaskbarSI`, select ‘Modify,’ and ensure that ‘Hexadecimal’ is selected under ‘Base.’ Now you can set the taskbar size by changing the value data:
– Small: Set Value data to ‘0’
– Medium (Default): Set Value data to ‘1’
– Large: Set Value data to ‘2’
Click ‘OK’ after entering your desired value.
4. Restart Windows Explorer or Your Device
After adjusting the taskbar size, you’ll need to restart Windows Explorer or your device for changes to take effect.
To restart Windows Explorer:
a) Right-click on an empty space in the taskbar and choose ‘Task Manager.’
b) Locate ‘Windows Explorer’ in the Processes tab.
c) Right-click it and select ‘Restart.’
If you prefer to restart your device, click on Start > Power > Restart.
That’s it! Once the system is back up, you should see the taskbar resized according to your chosen settings. Remember that changing the taskbar size in Windows 11 may affect icon scaling and accessibility features, so it’s essential to pick a size that works best for you and your device.
